Internet Download Manager (IDM) UI/UX Redesign

Internet Download Manager (IDM) is a download management software that has been well-received for over two decades. It provides users with a straightforward one-stop downloading solution, including video-grabbing, scheduled tasks, and support for HTTP and FTP protocols.

While the IDM users are loyal customers, this project aims to target the new audience that has just discovered the application or looking to fulfill their needs. As such, one of the core values of this project is to make IDM more inclusive and intuitive for new users. The key challenge for this project is to minimize the unfamiliarity while increasing its usefulness and legibility, making IDM more accessible to any user by refining its user journey and interface.

The new design of IDM achieves a modernized look while minimizing inconsequential information giving the user more straightforward navigation. The program has been restructured, and the features are repositioned according to the priority level.

The original design, on the other hand, may appear outdated or difficult to navigate with piles of tab menus and incomprehensible information. To avoid the issues, the new design introduced a consistent colour and icon system to maximize the visual balance and emphasize the hierarchy. Further, This project has completed user personas, journey mapping and surveys to comprehend the users' demands.
