2006年，在联合国第30届世界遗产大会上，四川大熊猫栖息地被列入“世界自然遗产”名录，都江堰是18个管理单元之一。都江堰做为熊猫输出地区，从都江堰走出去的“友谊使者”，它们出境前都必须在这里完成疾病检疫。 只有身体健康、生命力旺盛的大熊猫才能离开都江堰，踏上“外交大使”之路。

因此，都江堰人可以自豪地说：“没有一只大熊猫病着离开都江堰！”
