architectanddesign Project of the Week: @Nelsonthomas has designed a distinctive residence in #Lisbon's historic Lapa district, skillfully navigating a narrow 7-by-26-metre lot with strong planivolumetric constraints. Once the site of an industrial pavilion, the house is now tightly enclosed by adjacent buildings, with only its short ends facing the neighborhood. The project unfolds in two volumes connected by a covered loggia and centered around a courtyard, following the site's natural slope.

Thoughtful architectural gestures-perforated wooden screens, large windows, and carved-out green pockets-foster a subtle dialogue with the surroundings. Raw materials like exposed concrete and wood contrast vividly with bright green handmade tiles, creating a refined balance between restraint and vibrancy. @Nelson #architectanddesign
