古希腊、古埃及、北欧的神话和各类宗教基本都有山羊形象的恶魔。

现代西方文化里山羊的邪恶意象跟《圣经》中的一些暗喻有关，尤其鲜明的是「分羊的比喻」，意思是绵羊还有救，山羊是没救了。熟读《圣经》的人，不可能不对公羊产生鄙视、仇视心理。而山羊为什么招惹了早期基督教呢，有一种说法认为公山羊发情时格外淫荡，被视为欲望的象征，进而成了魔鬼化身。

Why do demons often appear in the form of goats in Western cultures?

Ancient Greek, ancient Egypt, Nordic mythology and all kinds of religions basically have goat image of the devil.

The evil image of the goat in modern Western culture is linked to a number of biblical metaphors, most notably the "divide the sheep parable", meaning that the sheep can be saved while the goat is not. It is impossible to read the Bible without feeling contempt and hatred for the ram. Why did goats offend early Christianity? One theory is that male goats were particularly lewd when they were in heat, and were seen as a symbol of lust, and thus the incarnation of the devil.
