If there’s a silver lining to the current crisis, it’s the expectation that the widespread lockdown and quarantine measures are nurturing a newfangled desire to travel, prompting hoteliers to focus on the guest experience and local communities. In this sense, the brand-new Ace Hotel Kyoto, which opened for an initial preview on June 11, not only inaugurates the tenuous easing of travel restrictions but also portends the dawn of a new, more focused era for the industry.
