Chase Bank 大通银行（1961）

Two historic banks, the Chase National Bank and the Bank of the Manhattan Company, merged in 1955 to form the Chase Manhattan Bank. The new firm embarked on constructing what was then a radical aluminum-and-glass, 60-story skyscraper in New York’s financial district.

两家历史悠久的银行，大通国家银行和曼哈顿公司银行，于1955年合并成为大通曼哈顿银行。这家新公司开始在纽约金融区建造当时可算是前卫的60层铝制玻璃摩天大楼。

To better reflect the new bank’s scope and power, in 1960 our firm designed an octagonal-shaped symbol to boldly identify the many retail outlets and considerable advertising exposure for what had become the nation’s largest bank.

为了更好地反映这家新银行的规模和实力，1960年，我们公司设计了一个八角形的标志，大胆地标识出这家已成为美国最大银行的众多零售网点并为其获得了相当大的广告曝光率。

At the time, few American corporations used abstract symbols for their identification. Radical for its time, the Chase symbol has survived a number of subsequent mergers and has become one of the world’s most recognizable trademarks.

当时，很少有美国公司使用抽象的符号作为品牌视觉标志。在那个时代，大通的标志是前卫的，这个标志后来经历了许多次并购和重组却一直被沿用，直到它成为目前世界上最知名的商标之一。
