I would describe my art as a balance between playful and unsettling, my work has a strong connection to the body, sometimes using performance and I seek to create installations that combine many materials. The main theme in my work is examining my own feelings of insecurity and exploring the wider ideas of our sense of security from birth to sickness and death. I believe this comes from early childhood experiences of not feeling good enough in my families eyes, this could be the Chinese expectation of wishing for a boy can make a big success, not for a girl. Or my own wish to always care very much about my appearance.
