WOODSTOCK 50

The Woodstock Music and Art Fair of 1969 is an event that cannot be separated from its social and political context, element that builds the basis of its relevance. Being in the midst of the Civil Rights Mo- vement, led by the black community, and the hippie movement as a counterculture motion that engulfed the social air as well as the music that was being crea- ted. Woodstock was the meeting place for the youth that lived in the postwar whirlpool, and now a day it is the living portrait of a time that continues echoing. To honor this event is of the utmost importance since it allows us to value history and the forming points of society. Because of this The International Poster Biennial in Mexico convenes The Magic Bus and the Walker Poster Society; being deeply aware that there are moments of great cultural noise.

This poster is based on a photo of Woodstock. Although I can hardly see the outline of the young people in the photo, I can strongly feel that this is a colorful and vibrant age. I pay tribute to that great age by expressing the crowd crowded together by Woodstock with abstract and rich colors. My mother was born in 1969 so named this poster, by the way.
