Predictive Digital Aesthetics
The designer I investigated is a very famous typeface designer in the Netherlands: WIM crouwel. At first, I simply looked at his works and felt that I was not very interested in him. Through his research, I slowly learned about him, and found that he is really very simple.
The career of Dutch designer Wim Crouwel Spans six decades and covers an extraordinary journey from designer, teacher, curator to Museum director. Wim Crouwel was designed to be a grid geek whose grid is changeable and complex. He himself mentioned the craze for "grids". Some people say that Wim Crouwel is a virtuoso of experimentation, who both live and anticipate his own time. He combined rigorous structural logics with meaningful expressiveness, showed an extraordinary mastery in color and typography, making letters become excellent images. His works in the 1960s, predictability in line with the current digital aesthetics. This sense of innovation, as well as the spirit of getting rid of the limitations of imagination at that time, is what I should learn. In the interpretation of the designer, the part of the poster is not ideal, and the information chart is not reflected. In later productions, I did not start with his most classic "New Alphabet" font, but changed the perspective to the theme. "I always try to create images in words," he said. This sentence inspired me. Wim crouwel has given me a lot of inspiration for design: design is an experimental process, and we must keep improving, curiosity and curiosity.
