梅森.厄内斯特是从军队中退伍的侦探，从塞那加尔兹共和国战败后，黑山帝国通过民粹主义复苏然后日益扩张，而梅森.厄内斯特正是在这个时代的转折点开始了他的侦探生涯。

梅森.厄内斯特拖欠数月房租后，终于陷入了债务危机。千钧一发之际，他的秘书带来了一封神秘的委托函，委托函的内容带着隐晦的暗示，只给了委托人的地址却没有案件的详情并要求梅森赴约去见帝国的一个官员，谁知记者埃里克不经意的介入，却搅开了一趟浑水，见到委托人时，发现那是曾经共事的战友伊莱，现在已经是帝国警方的高层。寒暄后得知他们需要调查一名驻帝国武官的意外死亡而引发的国际事件，帝国政府把这一事件的讯息进行了信息封锁。

梅森与他的助手艾尔文.奈杰尔去对事件进行调查，不料回程途中被人袭击，万幸梅森没有什么大碍，不过暗杀他的人被寒冰冻结让伊莱的副官对梅森的身份产生了疑问...

经故事的推演，这个世界的部分面貌会慢慢展现，“梅森的过去”，“艾尔文的身世”及“来自东方的阴谋”贯穿整个主线，其中加入了魔幻与东方的元素，有大量与反派交火的打斗剧情，和穿插倒叙的陈述。调查过程中通过与各种角色的对话和观察通过零碎的细节来推理真相，印第安纳琼斯般的冒险经历及设定中宏大的世界观，各式各样的的文明穿插其中，在其它推理漫画中几乎不曾出现。一层层的阴谋逐渐升华，东方各国之间的齿轮已经开始较动，牵动这整个摇摇欲坠的大陆……

Set in an imaginary magic world and incorporating traditional Chinese elements, the work tells the story of the veteran and detective Mason Earnest, who, at a time of financial distress, receives a mysterious offer from the Imperial Police to investigate the death of the ambassador of the Qin state. As Mason and his assistant Nigel undertook the investigation, they found themselves involved in various conspiracies. Accidentally, they were led to an oriental tribe hidden in the depth of the mountains, where mysteries began to unfold and they would embark on an adventure.
