1960年出生于名古屋市，1983年毕业于爱知县立艺术大学，同年进入丰田汽车公司。第一代雷克萨斯LS 400和塞尔西奥，马克Ⅱ等的设计担当。
2003年在美国的巴克莱大学取得了MBA。03年雷克萨斯品牌企划室长就任，全球雷克萨斯品牌牵引。
2010年就任丰田设计部长，指挥所有丰田汽车的产品设计开发；
2012年任技术研究代表董事；
2014年就任山叶发动机设计本部长；
2015年至今任执行董事。
